ADHD Evaluations

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts an individual's ability to regulate their attention. Individuals with ADHD can have trouble sustaining attention, controlling impulses, and/or managing their activity level. While all children experience these difficulties to some extent, a child with ADHD experiences these difficulties more severely than same-aged peers and to the extent that such difficulties cause problems at school, at home, and/or with friends.   ADHD typically persists into adulthood, though symptoms may manifest in different ways and at various severity levels over the lifespan.  While symptoms are present from childhood, severity level, co-occurring issues, and/or compensatory strategies may allow students to evade detection until they reach adolescence or  adulthood.

How a Psychoeducational Evaluation Can Help?

A comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation can identify attention-related differences and rule out other factors that can impact attention.  Our evaluations take a close look at a student's attentional capacity and executive functioning (e.g., planning, organization, time management), which allows us to identify the specific interventions and academic-related supports that will better allow a student to demonstrate the full extent of their knowledge.
