Learning Disability Evaluations
A learning disability is an information-processing difference that impacts a student's ability to acquire or effectively use a skill. It is a persistent learning difficulty that can occur in reading, writing, and/or math. Below are some common learning disabilities.
-
Dyslexia impacts a student's ability to read words accurately and/or fluently, decode unfamiliar words, and spell.
-
Dysgraphia impacts a student's ability to translate their thoughts into written form. Areas impacted can include spelling, handwriting, and organization.
-
Dyscalculia impacts a student's ability to learn, understand, and perform tasks related to numbers. Students with dyscalculia often struggle with acquiring math facts and performing accurate calculations.
How a Psychoeducational Evaluation Can Help?
A comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation can identify areas of difference and rule out other factors that can impact learning. Our evaluations look deeply at why academic areas are difficult for a student, while also identifying areas of strength. This process allows us to identify the specific interventions and academic-related supports that will facilitate growth and better allow a student to demonstrate the full extent of their knowledge.
